My grandparents were always there for anything that went wrong in my life. My grandma was my best friend and one of the most treasured in my life. She was my refuge and strength. I poured out my heart to her and she understood me, as my parents couldn’t or wouldn’t. She offend told my mom that she needed to put more time in with me. My mom told her that she didn’t have enough in her day to do this. I was never close to my parents as I grew up and later married when I was nineteen years old. My parents seem to only be close in their own relationship. I asked my mom when I was younger why she ever had me. She remarked that I was an accident; that they didn’t wait any children till much later.
When I told my grandma this and was crying my heart out, she told me, it’s okay. You have me and I will always listen to your heartache and tribulations. She told me that she would give me all the love and attention that I wanted and needed. Bless her heart that is exactly what she did until her dying days.
My grandpa was sort of a quiet man who never raised his voice to me or made me feel like I didn’t matter. He went along with whatever my grandma wanted. Their marriage lasted almost sixty years and they were very happy.
Later in my life my mom said I loved my grandma more than her. I said of course I do; she has always been there for me, and I knew her love was real unlike my mom’s.
Anyway, I hope this helps someone realize their children are very important. They need to love their children and will listen to them as their hearts are troubled and unsure what their lives hold for them… today and in their future.
